The world No. 1 booked his ticket to Sunday’s championship match with the straight-sets win over the tournament’s No. 10 seed. In the 12th meeting between the two, Djokovic broke Monfils – who was on a nine-match win streak – four times to maintain a perfect record against the popular Frenchman. The win sees the top seed reach the final of 14 of his past 15 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments. He will now be going for his record 30th trophy at the Masters 1000 level.
Up next for Djokovic is Japan’s Kei Nishikori. The No. 3 seed defeated Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland to earn his spot in the championship match earlier on Saturday.
