Canada’s Vasek Pospisil and doubles legend Daniel Nestor secured a spot in the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank semifinals on Friday night. The last remaining Canadians in competition defeated the Czech pair of Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek 6-3, 7-6(6).
Nestor and Pospisil registered five aces in the win and broke their opponents twice. The Canadian team advance to face No. 2 seeds Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares in the next round. The Brazilian-British duo defeated Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram of South Africa and the United States respectively.
Nestor and Pospisil will look to keep their strong preparation for the Olympics going on Saturday. Their match is set for 5:50 p.m. ET.
