On Saturday afternoon at Uniprix Stadium, second seed Roger Federer of Switzerland secured his spot in the final of Rogers Cup presented by National Bank with a two-set win over Robin Haase of the Netherlands (6-3, 7-6 (5)).

In the 75-minute showdown, he posted a first-serve winning percentage of 87% and dropped only 9 points on serve. His 9 aces and masterful volleys led him to his 44th berth in the final of a Masters 1000 event.

A two-time titleholder in Toronto, Federer has never won in Montréal. The closest he came was a final he lost to Novak Djokovic ten years ago. On Sunday, he will fight to claim his 94th ATP title and 27th Masters 1000 championship.

Imperial on the offense, the Swiss maestro was never in any real danger, even with the second set going to a tiebreaker. Today’s victory was his second against the world no.52. Haase was playing in his first Masters 1000 semifinal.
